Established in 1998, Perennial Freight is one of the largest transport companies in Ireland operating daily services throughout Ireland, UK and Europe using a modern fleet of equipment and is a rapidly expanding organisation. They are looking for a General Manager for their Wexford based operation. The role involves: Manage the day-to-day operations of the business to ensure efficiency, competitiveness, cost and budgetary compliance, customer satisfaction and ultimately profitability of the business and it’s various profit centres. Provide strong leadership in the implementation of the strategic vision for Perennial Freight and it’s partner companies across Europe. Manage the delivery of operations and profitability within the Polish operation, Pol Freight. Improve current process controls, quality control and H&S within the company’s operations. Review of monthly / JV accounts and weekly management reports. Analysis of performance, costs, margins and profitability and actioning any issues/queries arising from these reports. Human Resources - Recruitment, training, implementing effective working practices, performance management and supervision of the team throughout the Perennial Freight Operations. Working closely with the Commercial Director to develop new markets across Europe and capitalise on existing infra-structure and contacts to grow the business. The Ideal candidate will be: A minimum of 10 years of relevant senior level experience in a relevant industry or environment such as freight, logistics/distribution or an alternative industry where skills are transferrable. A strong financial background with a proven ability to analyse and critically assess accounts and spreadsheets along with having a keen business acumen to apply to same. Experience in a medium sized business with a similar ethos and culture with a turnover range from €15m - €40m. A third level qualification in a relevant discipline would be a distinct advantage. A successful/demonstrable track record in a business leadership role, with progressive levels of management responsibility. A thorough knowledge of the principles and practices of operations and financial management and Human Resources management. A high level of proficiency in IT applications Our client is looking for a progressive and dynamic General Manager to drive on their business and to build on existing success.
