Our client, a leading Waterford based engineering company currently has a vacancy for a Civil & Structural Engineer This is a great opportunity for an experienced Engineer to join a leading company who are continuing to expand and grow in Waterford. You will have the opportunity to execute projects in a fast paced, multi-disciplined, cross-functional team environment. THE ROLE We are currently seeking a Structural Engineer with strong analytical skills for our Waterford office to work on a range of commercial, institutional and industrial projects in Ireland and overseas. Reporting directly to the Project Director, the ideal Candidate will be self-motivated, conscientious with a strong commitment to complete projects to a very high standard. The candidate will be able to undertake design and specification of the range of structural engineering solutions in a supporting role to senior colleagues or as lead engineer on suitable projects. The candidate should have a range of project experience and be familiar with designing reinforced concrete and steelwork structures to the Eurocodes. Experience with other materials is desirable, but not essential. The candidate will have experience of new-build projects of various sizes. The candidate should understand how structural engineering co-ordinates with other disciplines, particularly architecture and building services. THE PERSON A recognised University Degree with a preference for first class honours Candidates. 2-4 years’ experience, preferably in a consultancy role. Chartered or committed to achieving Chartered Status in the near future. Excellent understanding of engineering principles and a strong technical focus. Excellent IT skills and be proficient in the use of Master Series or similar structural engineering analysis and design software. Proficient in the use of Autocad. Excellent communication skills and have an ability to interact with Client representatives, professional design team, contractors and others as necessary to effectively understand the requirements of the project. Must be able to ensure that engineering designs are effectively translated into drawings and specifications. Good report writing skills. A proven commitment to CPD.
