The Government is to appoint a Director to the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) to fill a current vacancy. The Organisation. The EPA is a Statutory Body and plays a central role in protecting the environment as a valuable asset for the people of Ireland and protecting our people and the environment from the harmful effects of radiation and pollution. The EPA is managed by a full time Executive Board consisting of a Director General and five other Directors. It now has a vacancy for a Director, who will be based at headquarters in Wexford. Reporting to the Director General, the newly appointed Director will join the Executive Board and in addition to this corporate role, will have executive responsibility for one of five Offices in the EPA: • Office of Environmental Sustainability. • Office of Environmental Enforcement. • Office of Evidence and Assessment. • Office of Radiation Protection and Environmental Monitoring. • Office of Communications and Corporate Services. The post requires a person already operating at a senior level in a medium or large organisation. The appointment will be for a term of five years in accordance with the provisions of the EPA Act, 1992 as amended. Applications are now invited from candidates who can demonstrate: • relevant knowledge, experience and qualifications, particularly in relation to environmental and/ or radiological protection matters and sustainable development; • highly effective leadership and team-working skills as well as strong management and corporate governance skills; • the ability to plan and act strategically; • excellent inter-personal and communication skills; • sound judgement/decision-making and the ability to analyse and respond effectively to complex issues; • the ability to plan, organise and use resources effectively to execute and deliver on demanding strategic objectives.
