Job Title: Person-in-Charge (Director of Nursing. Accountable to: Registered Provider. Reports to: Registered Provider. Job Purpose. To support in the management of our clients Nursing Home in Co. Wexford. Ensure compliance with all regulations and legislation pertaining to Nursing Homes in accordance with Health Act, S.I. 415 of 2013 (Care and Welfare of Residents in Designated Centres for Older People) Regulations 2013 and HIQA National Standards for Residential Care Settings for Older People in Ireland (2016. To manage and facilitate an on-call out of hours service. Dimensions. Ensure effective governance through directing and managing care and care delivery. Staff Management / Supervisory responsibilities. Resource management including budgetary responsibilities. Ensure safe and effective service delivery through ongoing clinical auditing and monitoring and in doing so ensure that the service fulfills its Statement of Purpose and achieves its objectives. Ensure that local policies reflect on national policy, standards and best practice recommendations. Knowledge & Skills Required. Registered Nurse with a full ABA registration. Demonstrate evidence of continuous professional development. Minimum 3 years out of the last 6 years in an Aged care setting at management level. Post graduate diploma in gerontology and/ or a management qualification in health or related field. Have an excellent organisation and communication skills with excellent verbal and written command of the English Language. Be a team player, flexible and adaptable. Have the ability to lead and supervise a team of staff and have the confidence and ability to manage disciplinary issues and report upwards as necessary. Have the ability to teach, impart knowledge and identify learning, development and training needs. Be thorough and efficient in all dealings with matters relating to the company and nursing home. Have the ability to earn trust and establish solid relationships with residents, relatives, colleagues and management. Be confident and competent in investigation/ report writing skills. This role is 35 – 40 hours per week. The candidate will have their own control over hours. All day work – no night shifts involved, however will involve on-call responsibility for urgent medical issues only.
